Introducing our first Spring Summer collection crafted in Japan - expanding the circle of OYUNA.
Since our beginning, OYUNA has been rooted in a dialogue between place and people -Mongolia and London, heritage and modernity, fibre and form. Our work has always been guided by a belief in fewer, more meaningful pieces - objects that hold presence, memory, and longevity.

For a spring summer collection, Japan felt like a natural continuation of this philosophy. Here, we found not just production, but a way of thinking. Small, highly skilled ateliers working with quiet precision. A respect for process that values time as much as outcome. In this collection, fabric is not a backdrop. It is the starting point.

We were drawn to materials that hold subtle complexity - textured cottons, breathable and softly structured. The first is a lightweight twill that brings together the softness of cotton and the crisp, airy quality of washi yarn - the fine paper fibre woven into Japanese textile tradition for centuries. Made at a family-owned mill in Aichi, ninety years in the craft, and finished in Okayama. 

The second is a high-density, down-proof cotton woven in Shizuoka and hand-dyed in Okayama. The dyeing process coaxes the surface into a natural crinkle - subtly uneven, full of quiet texture. No two pieces are exactly alike.

Surfaces that reveal themselves slowly, through touch, movement and use over the years.

 

There is a quiet honesty in these fabrics. Nothing is overstated. Nothing is rushed. Silhouettes remain pared back, allowing texture, weight, and drape to define the experience of each garment.

What connects Mongolia and Japan is not geography, but rhythm. A shared respect for slowness. For process. For the unseen.

Many of the mills we work with operate at a human scale - small, specialised, deeply rooted in their craft. Production unfolds rather than accelerates. Each stage-spinning, weaving, finishing - adds depth, not excess.

Each piece is dyed using natural, organic materials in small batches. This hands-on method requires the dyer to repeatedly remove and reinsert the fabric throughout the process to manage evenness. However, the resulting variations in tone, shade, and intensity are not flaws - they're the authentic signature of natural dyeing. These subtle irregularities, including occasional streaks, create beautifully unique results that we celebrate as part of the fabric's charm.

This approach mirrors our long-standing relationships with Mongolian makers, where knowledge is passed through nomadic hands, not systems.

Because craftsmanship is a language that transcends borders.
Because the future lies not in more, but in better - better materials, better processes, better connections.

From the Mongolian steppe to Japanese mills, from fibre to fabric, from maker to wearer-this is the continuity we seek to honour.

Spring Summer 26 Integrity Collection Concept

"Anthony Gormley's work became our inspiration for the dose of integrity we all need in this current climate." - Oyuna Tserendorj. 

Inspired by the profound integrity of Antony Gormley’s sculptures, this collection expresses form without pretence. Architectural, timeless, elevated. Mongolian cashmere meets Japanese cotton: one carrying silence and the rhythm of Mongolia’s vast land, the other the precision of Japanese craftsmanship. Both shaped by hands that value patience, respect, and continuity.
